Emma Stone expressed guilt for calling Taylor Swift a “a**ehole” during the Golden Globes.
Emma Stone has expressed regret after making a joke about Taylor Swift backstage at the Golden Globes in January.
The Oscar-winning actress confirmed that there is no bad blood between her and Swift, but she will not be poking fun at her friend again.
In an interview with Variety alongside Poor Things director Yorgos Lanthimos, Stone said she was hit with backlash from Swifties after calling the Cruel Summer an “a**ehole” backstage in January.
She said she definitely won’t make a joke like that again because she saw headlines that pulled it out of context.
When Stone’s name was announced as the winner, the Wildest Dreams singer and her friend Keleigh Sperry gave the actress a standing ovation.
Stone joked backstage when asked about the pop star’s support.
The pair have been close friends since their paths first crossed back in 2008 at the Young Hollywood Awards.
While they have remained tight-lipped about their friendship over the years, the duo have been spotted hanging out several times, including at the NYC premiere of Stone’s Poor Things in December.
Stone hasn’t offered up many details about her friendship with Swift, but she told Vanity Fair in June that Swift has helped her secure tickets to her sold-out Eras Tour.
She said that she was lucky because they’ve been friends for a long time and that Swift is a wonderful friend.
