China Telecom Gulf Officially Launches in Saudi Arabia, Strengthening Digital Ties

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – November 21, 2024 — China Telecom Gulf was officially launched in Riyadh, marking a significant milestone in China Telecom’s international expansion. The launch event was attended by over 100 business leaders and dignitaries, including Mr. Liu Guiqing, Executive Director and EVP of China Telecom Corporation, and Mr. Fawaz, Representative of the Contact Office of Chinese Companies in Saudi Arabia. The gathering also included representatives from key organizations such as the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Saudi Arabia, Saudi Telecom Company (STC), Huawei, and the Bank of China.

This new venture is part of China Telecom’s broader strategy to contribute to the development of the Belt and Road Initiative and to strengthen ties between China and Saudi Arabia in the field of information technology. As China Telecom’s regional hub, the launch of China Telecom Gulf is expected to foster closer cooperation and technological advancement, playing a critical role in building a “China-Arab Community with a Shared Future.”

In his address, Mr. Liu Guiqing highlighted China Telecom’s commitment to fostering global collaboration through its expertise in cloud-network integration, intelligent operations, and technological innovation. The company plans to work closely with the Saudi government, local enterprises, and international partners to help drive the region’s digital transformation. With a strong focus on 5G, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, China Telecom aims to provide cutting-edge communication products and services to Saudi businesses, institutions, and consumers.

At the launch event, China Telecom showcased its global business capabilities and introduced a range of innovative services, including eSurfing Cloud, computing power solutions, quantum technology, and customized 5G networks. The company operates across 42 countries and regions, with 53 international submarine cables and 27 self-operated Internet Data Centers (IDCs) worldwide.

China Telecom also signed several strategic agreements with local companies, including Saudi Telecom Company (STC), Huawei Saudi Arabia, and Baud Telecom Company. These agreements will focus on leveraging each party’s strengths to provide optimized digital solutions for Saudi customers, further enhancing the region’s technological infrastructure.

The establishment of China Telecom Gulf in Saudi Arabia is a key development in the company’s global strategy, as it extends its reach into the Middle Eastern communications market.
