The family was riding on Milperra Road in Milperra at 7:40 p.m. on Sunday when, according to police, dashcam evidence shows the driver turning right at an intersection before getting struck by an approaching Toyota Hilux. The male driver, 52, and the other three occupants were trapped when the vehicle rolled. Both Thai Duong, 41, and Hailie, his daughter, who was seated in the rear car, passed away at the scene. Duong’s nine-year-old son was one of the other passengers in the backseat. He was brought to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead by paramedics and was still in critical condition on Monday afternoon. Hailie was a sixth-grader at Bankstown’s St. Brendan’s Catholic School.
